This study shows that a searcher is 13 times more likely to use the simple search interface than the advanced search interface and that the advanced search is used infrequently, used badly and with less success than the simple search.

Search logs were used to look at the topics that people mainly searched for over a two-year period. We wanted to know which topics were consistently popular so find-ability could be improved.

4. Intranet searching: changes in searching behaviour. A case study
Intranet search logs were used to compare the number of searches for core business information to the number of searches for administrative information. The purpose of the study was to see if there were changes in searching behaviour as intranet content developed from predominantly administrative information to more business based information.
